Freelance Writing for Fishing Publications
Freelance writing is a great career for those
who love to write and who would prefer to work as freelancers from
home. If you have the skills needed to write a good magazine article
and you also have a good knowledge of fishing then you could write
for many publications that are known to purchase material relating to
fishing from freelance writers.
Fishing magazines tend to accept material on a
wide range of topics relatied to fishing including sportsfishing,
saltwater fishing, fly fishing, conservation, regional reports, fly
tying, tackle, rigging, and casting. They often publish humor and
some occasionally include fiction and poetry.
The rate of pay for articles varies ranging
from around five cents per word at the lower end through to several
thousand dollars for exceptional articles in a publication like
Field & Stream.
To get you started, here are a few examples of
publications that accept material related to fishing. Please note
that by the time you read this, their rates and requirements may
well have changed, so be sure to check with the publication for
their latest writer’s guidelines.
